Create a Twilio Account

To be able to make use of the phone verification system, you are required to have a Twilio account. Twilio is an SMS/Phone Call gateway provider, which will help you send out the SMS messages or Phone Calls to your potential clients to help them verify their WHMCS account.

Steps

  • Go to https://www.twilio.com and click on the signup button and proceed with the signing up process.
  • You will be given your first Twilio phone number, you can either use the one that is chosen for you, or choose your own number. For this tutorial, we will go ahead and use the assigned number by twilio by clicking the Get Started button.
  • Then, head to https://www.twilio.com/user/account/ and upgrade your account by clicking on the big blue button that says “Upgrade your account”, this will help you remove your account restrictions. Verify a payment method, and add funds to your account.
  • Then, head to https://www.twilio.com/user/account/settings/international and select the countries that you would like to make verification calls to. Select all the countries to avoid facing difficulties in verification calls. Some countries require you to request access manually.
  • Then, head to https://www.twilio.com/user/account/settings/international/sms and select the countries that you would like to send the SMS verification messages to. Select all the countries to avoid facing difficulties in SMS delivery.
  • Then, head to https://www.twilio.com/user/account/settings to get your Account SID and Auth Token (which can be shown by clicking on the lock icon). Keep these with you as you will require them later when you configure the module in WHMCS.
  • Then, head to https://www.twilio.com/user/account/phone-numbers/incoming to get your outgoing twilio phone number, it will be in this format: +1 480-418-2449 - remove the spaces and the (-) sign and keep a copy of it in this format +14804182449. Keep this with you as you will require it later when you configure the module in WHMCS.
